主讲人简介：

Dr Wei Gao is a Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Auckland, Fellow of the Royal Society NZ and Fellow of IPENZ. Received his D. Phil degree from Oxford University UK, he worked at MIT, USA for 5 years as the Director of Rapid Solidification Labs. His active research covers a wide area including Nanomaterials, Thin films and coatings, Electronic and energy materials, Corrosion and oxidation, Light alloys, and Photocatalysis. He has 725 scientific publications including 425 journal papers, and received a number of prestigious awards, including “Scott Medal”, “James Cook Award”, “Shorland Medal” and “Distinguished Materials Scientist of China”.

报告内容：

This is a series undergraduate course in English.  The contents include the importance of corrosion, corrosion thermodynamics, electrochemical reactions, electrode potential, polarisation, passivity, Pourbaix Diagrams, environmental effects, materials factors, forms of corrosion, corrosion in natural and industrial environments, corrosion testing, corrosion behaviour of materials, material selection, environment alteration, design, cathodic an anodic protection, coatings and surface treatment, and economic considerations.  The purpose of this lecture series is to introduce basic concept of corrosion engineering, and to help students to familiarize with technical teaching in western universities.
